Is There a Genetic Predisposition to Schizophrenia?
The monozygotic twin concordance of schizophrenia is 40 to 50%. That means, if you take identical twins separated at birth, there's about a 40 to 50% chance that the other one will. One in 10 cases of schizophrenia right now in the United States were triggered by THC use during adolescence. For people with some of the big three mental illnesses, which I would call bipolar 1, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, for a lot of people with these illnesses, THC is probably actually riskier than alcohol.
