The Politics of Education

I always think the bigger problem with education actually is that it's the one thing everyone thinks, if you've been to school you think you're an expert on it. All of our ideas about education are colored by what school was like for us and politicians are generally people who did well at school. I remember suddenly a former advisor in the Department of Education saying to me that the politics of education are complicated by the fact that the cohort of voters who really care passionately about it care about it while their children are at school but they forget about it entirely.
