The Science of Letters
Akbar ibn Arabi wrote about the science of letters in his massive compendium called al-Futu-Hat al-Makea or the Mecca revelations. The science of letters proposes to simplify a bit that the letters of the Arabic alphabet have powers in themselves that can be utilized. Even outside of an Islamic religious framework, we see similar ideas flourishing in other traditions, such as in Kabbalah or in Jewish mysticism.
