If we can push these extra costs onto fees, they don't count as tuition. And student fees are very expensive. Multi thousands of dollars. It will add quite a lot to a college bill. A student who goes to a mid to low rank school and really applies himself is going to go farther in life than one that goes to an Ivy League and doesn't.
