The first time that Ye understood what privilege was, she was 19 years old. What we want to talk about with these letters in this week is how to make privilege visible to all of us. We are talking about it as a form of power that has to be recognized and wielded responsibly. Privilege does not have to be negative. But we have to take direction about how to use our privilege in ways that empower those who lack it.
