Any one who could edit the genum of one organism in the lab could, in principle, edit the genums of a large fraction of that same species without asking any other humans for permission. So i spent quite some time thinking, well, what are the implications of this? And in particular, could it be misused? What if some one wanted to engineer an organism for malevolent purposes? What could we do about it? How mind they, i mean, without, you know, giving too many creative ideas to our audience?"
