Anti-War Demonstrations - What Happened to the Movement?

The peak period of anti-war demonstrations was late 60s, early 70s. The hope was that by putting literally millions of people in the streets all over the country, politicians would recognize it might be to their advantage to adopt the movement's policy preferences. It's not totally clear that happened. Most street protests don't threaten the social order; they copy the largely peaceful model of the 19th century.
