Weird Al - A Funny Song That Tells a Story
Weird Al Yankovic is best known for his straight up parodies, where he meticulously recreates the parts of a famous song and adds his own lyrics. He also does polka covers like that Rolling Stones one from the UHF soundtrack or this one from 1992's Off the Deep End. This is Dare to Be Stupid, a 1985 style parody of Divo off of Val's album of the same name,. I'll never forget what Divo frontman Mark Mothersbought thought of it when he was in Yankovic were interviewed on VH1 show behind the music.
It's time for a Strong Songs road trip, as Kirk unravels one of "Weird Al" Yankovic's most understated, grandiose songs. So come along, for a journey through long-form story songs, sea shanty refrains, synth feelings, and an unexpectedly grand finale. We'll stay until the security guards throw us out.
