The Story of Walter St. John

Walter St. John had escaped from jail quite recently before he was found dead in chipping Cleggorn. The envelope that Miss Marple's former maid Gladys delivered to Miss Marple and Bunch was a second cloak room ticket for Paddington Station. So off to London, go Inspector Craddock and Bunch. They visit Miss Marple, who I assume is still staying at Dear Raymond and Joy Slash Jones flat. She hasn't opened up the suitcase yet. Together they open it up and inside the real suitcase is Zobeda's old rhinestone costume. Or as Christy puts it: "Both women gave a slight gasp as the lid flew up"
