History of Ideas: Hobbes on the State

TALKING POLITICS

CHAPTER

The Law of Nature Is a Right

Hobbes thought we could rationally all of us as humans agree on those rules and he called them the laws of nature they're natural. Life will go better if we crash into each other less, if when we're pursuing the same object we can somehow keep in our lanes so there are no lanes but we can imagine them or construct them. If that law applies to all of us it means we all have the right to interpret it in a situation of conflict over anything religion, love, money, tax, war, aesthetics, I might not like you.
