The Explosion of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill

There was an explosion on the rig that killed perhaps a dozen people and led to what I believe was the largest oil spill in US history. In April 2010, there was a decision to temporarily abandon the well at about 18,000 feet in depth. The natural gas and oil pressure from down deep gradually pushed everything up through the well and exploded. Some ignition source they're not sure but basically a generator, some sort of spark because they had diesel generators on the platform.
