FT's infrastructure correspondent Jill Plimmer gives an update on how we got to this point. Thatcher privatized the water industry 35 years ago and didn't really impose any checks or balances, she says. Now companies are overburdened with debt interest rates rising and they're under pressure. She tells us about Thameswater which is overwhelmed by 14 billion pounds of debt.
