A year after that letter was written in 1873, Vincent was transferred to the London branch of the art dealers and began lodging in Lambeth. We're not quite sure what happened with his love life, with the lawyers, when he was staying with them in Brixton or Lambert. And it may be also that he was suffering from an only quieted love affair back home with a cousin,. hard to tell, but certainly he was not happy... something seems to have gone wrong in his life when he was in his late teens.
