Allopurinol and Chronic Kidney Disease
When we start allopurinol, we should be starting low, and we do need to start a bit lower in people with chronic kidney disease. Once they're on a stable dose of allopurInol, they should stay on that dose. There is going to be no risk to this person who's been admitted to hospital. If they're tolerating allopirinol, it's not going to do any harm,. And it may prevent them from having a gout flare.
