In March 2000, Robertson decided to shut down Tiger. He said that the compound rate of return to partners during the 18 years from 1980 to 1998 was 31.7%. A lot of great returns were done on a very small capital base in the 1980s. And then once the fund ballooned to massive size in the 1990s, that massive amount of capital experienced a drawdown.
