Guarache's Story of a Climbing Disaster
Guarache went because this was a chance to earn some notoriety as a mountaineer. On the climb, someone got on the radio and told him to stop. It took two hours of arguing to get permission to continue. At 19,000 feet, there isn't enough oxygen for even jet fuel to ignite. No one in charge of an investigation would order a climber into that environment.
