According to genetics and linguistic studies it seems that the early colonists on iceland were largely norwegian so that is what the sagas claim. Many others came from other parts of scandinavia especially gauntlet in sweden also many sami from far northern scandinavian. It seems that the women who settled in iceland were especially mixed with a lot of them being irish and scottish.
