The Different Types of Deities in Mesopotamia
A salmu is a statue of a god, but not just a statue in the way that we think of a statue in English. After the craftsmen created the statue, Greece performed a ceremony or a set of ceremonies on the statue to bring the presence of the god into the statue. According to these texts, the ears of the god, they became real ears. And that statue was actually a body of thegod, but it wasn't the only body of the god. The god was still up in heaven.
