Is the Significant More Important Than the Signifiable?

In this book we're looking at a moment in which the signifier supersedes the signified in meaning, when text's ability to dictate is more important than what we are looking at itself. This is something that you can elaborate on a bitf so i meen the most immediate example. For me it was the difference between the supplement as a sign and the original object. Was the building, am, if it's a sign, on architecture or the person. If we think of of identity card as a kind of supplement to the person. Once we that supplementary relationship exists, it's no longer possible to think of the object in itself without that supplement.
