The Threat of Chaos in Philosophy
Kant says that for reason to function we kind of have to start with this belief in it in its power. He can say to the skeptic he's like, look, it's not the case. Things do appear to us as objects. It's not chaos against the empiricists who like Locke says there's no perceptions or whatever.
