Iceland has always had magic as part of their culture, but it wasn't associated with the Christian devil until 999. A witch trial in Iceland was a showdown between the Old World and the New. The community knew what pointing the finger might mean for them, so they kept their mouth shut. There were no more confessions or executions ever again.
