James Gibson's Ecological Theory of Visual Perception
James Gibson discovered that this long-standing visual image theory of a retinal image theory of visual perception is untenable and so he started from scratch looking for a new way of understanding visual perception. He was saying what we actually perceive is the environment and this was a tremendous breakthrough I was very happy to see that the academic community made him a member of the National Academy they honored him.
