CHAPTER

The Great Divorce

David Frum: Lewis used metaphors to describe heaven and hell. He says God is the most concrete thing in the cosmos, so it's hard to talk about Heaven because it's so nearly nothing. The only ghost who actually gets into heaven in the great divorce is one who struggled with lust; he becomes big and solid. And now what happens is he's given back his sexuality, but instead of the lizard riding the man, now the man mounts the horse and rides it into heaven.
