In 20 20 there was so much fiscal stimulus that unemployment was genuinely horrifying. But people were getting all this money, and it made a blunt ed the pain of unemployment to such an extent that it decoupled people's perceptions of unemployment and the economy. And we are absolutely not in any kind of post pendemic equilibrium yet. We are still trying to work out what the exit from the pandemic is really going to look and feel like.
