Pepsi wanted to enlarge its customer base in the Asian markets. In 1968, Pepsi executives are looking for a novel approach for their pavilion. The initial budget that Pepsi gives EAT is about $800,000. By this point, it's several hundred thousand dollars over budget. But it successfully opens in March of 1970.
