The Requirements for Intelligence in Computer Science
We measure the intelligence of a system by its ability to achieve stated ends in the face of variations, difficulties and complexities posed by the task environment. The lack of a simple deus ex macina does not imply that there are no structural requirements for intelligence. One such requirement is the ability to store and manipulate symbols. Our understanding of the system's requirements for intelligent action emerges slowly. And this kind of lays the groundwork for what you can talk about in that field.
