What Makes You Want to Read the Quake?

The first time that i read after the quake was a few years ago. The volleying between the two without leaning too heavily on either one of them is something that i just can't figure out, you know? And i think that that no ability, for me, on my hand, is part of what makes it so interesting. It's such a quiet story, and yet there is extraordinary tragedy just outside of it, and the potential for extraordinary violence on the inside of it.
