The Rise and Fall of the East India Company

The East India Company was founded in the 17th century. It is still a company run for and buy its shareholders, not the British government. The Victorians muddied the waters by turning figures like Clive into the founders of the British Empire. And he soon hovers up the rest of northern India. He does this for the company and the company finds itself in effect to control of the whole of the Mogul Empire by the end of the 18th century.
