I think it's just the constant expanding of what one would refer to as one's comfort zone. Curiosity, a willingness to learn and the ability to self observe or self evaluate are some of the secrets to success. When you hire people, you should be hiring people who are better than you in the area that you're hiring them for. And you shouldn't be threatened by that.
