The Power of Tolstoy

Tolstoy agreed with that Tolstoy read, you know, in that, in that way that Plato was read in the 19th century. He's not breaking this down into some kind of a reductive formula for the reader to live by. So he has to leave it to us to figure out what this means. And yet at the same time, Tolstoy does seem to be not agnostic about, for example, whether Ivani elite lived a life as he should have or if there might be principles according to which a life might be lived more fully.
