CHAPTER

The Power of Proving That Someone Is Wrong

Calvin: Proving that someone is wicked or hostile does not meet the burden of proving they're therefore incapable of confessing their wickedness and their hostility so as to be forgiven. We don't think that saying someone's hostile to the gospel or hostile to the things of God therefore equals. They cannot humbly confess their hostilityso as to be reconciled. Calvinist, what you're doing - whether you recognize it or not - is removing the blameworthiness of those who reject the free offer of grace. It's not rational to say that someone's blameworthy for something that they have no blame for.
