Apple's Trust in the Apple Watch
Apple is going the exact opposite direction and it started with the Apple Watch. They don't let you pick if the time is gonna be in front or behind some photographic element they figure out how to mask in a tasteful way so that what you get is good by default. There's like six font options for your time and there's one row of widgets and every time you bump into a constraint it can be a little frustrating but you fall into the well of success which is you can't really fuck it up.
