What Form Did the Resistance Take?
In germany, philosophy has very strongly meant history of philosophy. And secondly, something like naturalism has always had a bad press. A people who thought empirical sciences could contribute anything like bottom up constraints for conceptial work just hadn't understood what philosophy was in the first place.
