The first big case that it was used in was a case, the murder of a priest by this kind of weird drifter called William a high tower. Larsen found that high tower was probably guilty on the basis of the lie detector test and he went to prison. It wasn't used as part of his trial because there were so much other more established forms of evidence. The tech hasn't changed much since then, honestly.
