How Did a 13 Year Old Boy Defeat an Older Samurai?
Musashi ran away from home and trained with his uncle. When he reached the age of 12, musashi struck out on his own. In 15 96, 12 years old was perhaps not quite so young as it is now. But still, how did a 13 year old boy defeat an older, experienced samurai? Darron ashmore teaches japanese studies at the international college of liberal arts near tokio. He says musachi was tall for his time, so he was able to wield a long sword which could cut through his opponent's defences. Was also very wily. Would turn up late to his duels in order to unsettle and provoke his opponents into rash action
