How to Sail a VMG Downwind in a Straight Line
Downwind sailing the idea that a cruising boat is still going to go from A to B downwind in a straight line forget these jiving angles and stuff set the poles up. It's absolutely essential to carry a spinner spinner or polo whiska pole yeah because on the unsincerity in 88 footer they didn't have one we had a great big asymmetric but the trouble was we had to sail the angles. We were doing 10 and 11 through the water but our speed in advance was sixYeah exactly so you feel you're going fast but it's not the same thing no this is this is fantastic.
