The Importance of Butterfly Collecting

In the early 1700s, butterfly collector Lady Eleanor Glanville was declared insane due to her butterfly collecting. Darwin met a man called Renaus who had left some caterpillars in the charge of a little girl and instructed her on how to feed them so that they turn into butterflies. And he'd been arrested for telling a girl that a caterpillar would become a butterfly. People just didn't think it was possible that they were related.
