The Importance of Coherence in Belief
In the early 17th century two armies in Scotland fought a battle on this spot and they missed. The point is that when you've got complex beliefs of belief it's not just like having the scene but an interpretation of the scene. There was a movement in philosophy parallel to the arrival some of you may have heard of the arrival of analytical philosophy which was largely due to Russell and Moore at the beginning of the 20th century there's a parallel movement going on in America called pragmatism. Charles Sanders Peirce, C.S.P., one of the principal pragmatists who helped develop modern analytic philosophy.
