Can I Send Apple Events to Arbitrary Applications?
You can send Apple events back and forth to arbitrary applications, that's where the Mac was for ages. But in this secure age, the only way they had to close that door was to say, no, no, you can't send Apple events to arbitrary applications. There is an exception to this. If you really, really, really need to send an Apple event to another application that you didn't write,. Because if it's your own applications, you can do all sorts of fun stuff.
