The Journey to Empathy in the Web

The real problem is that the top patterns are so nebulous. It's like trying to get around whenever Google does a new release and you're trying to think of new black hat techniques. But also, isn't this like it's really a testament to how we as UXers are failing to create empathy for the end user? If they do have empathy for them, then they don't really want to trick them.
