The Problem With Collective Anxiety
Sally Kohn: We have a very ancient circuitry in our body. She says we need to use the breath to turn down the volume of that default mode network. The prefrontal cortex, the posterior cingulate and the amygdala light up when we're ruminating about the past or being melancholy. This is backed up from PET scans where they look at the cranium and the brain under stimuli.
