The Importance of World Systems Theory in Global History
The world is much more global than it used to be, let's say in the 1800s, definitely. Today it's much easier to travel long distance if you have a fracture of the money you needed before. This also is reshaping the world system and there seems to be a struggle about where is the position of individual nation states within this kind of world system. So we see this kind of transformation and I think we will always have to come back to Wallerstein to a certain degree to not only observe, but also comment on the things that are happening.
