Rust's type system is designed to never run in production. It uses a lexer that only looks for import statements and doesn't care about anything else. This means it can get out of the way in development time, not really slowing anything down. But when you compile for something native, it incurs another issue with distribution. So ruste re-implements magic string which does the same thing but faster. And now if someone tries to dallod all their batteries into rust then they'll have to go through this whole process again.
