Torture is completely prohibited in normative suni islam. These type of policies, are not inspired by pre modern islam. They are a continuation of liberal colonial government strategies. The striking disparity between western deaths and moslem deaths is reminiscent of colonial conflicts. When they say liberalism, they refer to a utilitar, utopian politics that never existed.
