The Importance of Real Reality in the Church

The church in Africa got real problems as well as really good things. We need to talk about how people from warring ethnic groups can understand their Catholicism and Christianity. The dignity of their baptism and the radical equality of the faithful supersedes their tribal identity. That's a human experience that the church can speak into that the gospel can address. And I think to have those kinds of priorities highlighted and given a better place of prominence in the church either in the synodal process or in a conclave, could only be to the good.
