The Importance of GPS Data in Telecom Data
GPS is not always and it's often incredibly imprecise. Often your phone only knows where you are to the nearest hundred meters. The raw data is quite imprecise so there's a lot of modelling used to make it more accurate. For example I found you could make the telephonica data look really quite accurate by showing it tracking the sort of annual time series. But all you're really doing is showing that yes there are more people out in high streets at Christmas time or weekends are busier than weekdays. That's such an easy sort of easy case to hit. It doesn't really reflect the kind of measurement you're trying to do when you're predicting the sales
