What's Happening in San Jose?
Dr. Lucy Jones is a research associate at the Sizemological Laboratory of Caltech. Some people had 18, 19 seconds even before they felt any shaking. If you got that much shaking, you were pretty far away from the earthquake and probably hadn't just barely felt it at all. With early warning, what we've done is try to get that information processed so quickly that we can tell it to you before the shaking actually gets to you.
