The armies of mortor are very much seen as like a sort of an industrializing wave, something that destroys the natural landscape and replaces it with industry. There are mentions to mention of orks like breeding in the wild. So they do seem to reproduce in the wild in some manner. But who knows, it could be like a jurassic park situation, right?
