The Importance of Consensus
The difficulty I have with consensus is not a difficulty that has the following form. It isn't that I think that lack of consensus is a good thing and it's really better to push people around than to agree with them. What I think is that consensus must be treated as an empirical concept just like other empirical concepts. The Nazis can get together and they all check the same box, nothing much follows from that. That's just one empirical phenomenon among others.
