Like most social movements, feminism was pushed and engineered by certain elites. Eva Vanderbilt Belmont was the main financier of feminist causes. She would use her money to bail suffragettes out of jail. They were far smaller numbers in the pro suffrage and women's rights groups that they were a smaller elite circle of these wealthier women.
